The Donor
The late Mr Chow Yuk Ho was a renowned industrialist in enamelware and thermo flasks during his times. In 1951, Mr Chow started his own enamelware manufacturing company. After Mr Chow’s demise, elder daughter, Audrey P F Chow and son, Donald H K Chow both trained in vitreous enameling engineering abroad, continued production in enamelware factories. In following decades, they converted factory premises into property development, relocating enamelware factory to mainland China. Mr Chow Yuk Ho was a director of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals in 1948/1949. With a strong belief that education is the key to success in life and the society, he helped in setting up bursaries for students with financial difficulties. He also appealed to members of his fraternity for supporting needy students to pursue their education.
Mr Chow Yuk Ho
Ms Therese P F Chow, younger daughter of Mr Chow, extended her father’s philanthropic efforts. She made a generous donation to establish the Technology Centre for Innovative Medicine at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in memory of her father and in recognition of the contributions and achievement in medical sciences and academic development of Professor Joseph J Y Sung.
In appreciation of the donation made by Ms Chow and the benevolence of her father, CUHK named the Centre as Chow Yuk Ho Technology Centre for Innovative Medicine.
